REVIEW: Beautybay skincare

I wanted to try the beautybay skincare range when it was orginally released but everything seemed to sell out so quickly! When I saw some products were back in stock I decided to take
the plunge and buy a few things to test out.

All the products are cruelty free and vegan, and they even have instructions on the website about recycling the packaging which I love! The packaging is a lot of plastic, but the mask and moisturiser pots feel very durable and luxurious, but the cleanser is more on the flimsy side.

Super Jelly Cleansing Gel

This cleanser aims to rebalance and refresh skin which is full of moisturising ingredients like avocado oils which help the skin feel clean but comfortable.
I loved the Glossier jelly cleanser (full review of glossier phase 1 set here) and so I thought this would be pretty similar to that one. The glossier cleanser left you skin feeling very clean - almost too clean, whereas the beautybay cleanser is much more gentle.

I think it would make a great morning cleanser or it will be a good second cleanse in the evening, but I think I need something a little stronger to tackle taking off my make up. I have been using it as a second cleanse following the body shop camomile oil cleanser which I got in my latest body shop haul

All in all I like this cleanser, but I don't think it's something that I loved enough to repurchase a second time. If you have super sensitive skin I do think this would work for you!

Skin Hit Clarifying Serum

This serum is to tackle breakouts and unhappy skin whilst also soothing and moisturising the skin.
It contains bakuchiol (don't worry I'd never heard of it either) which is a natural alternative to retinol. Retinol has a lot of benefits, but you do need to be careful and build up use to retinol. I have very sensitive skin and so I prefer to add a few drops to my moisturiser, rather than just applying this directly onto my skin. Check out my guide to retinol for more information!

I love that you can also add a few drops of this serum to a mask, which isn't something I would have thought of doing previously. I also like to add a few drops to my moisturiser and use it that way. I don't feel like I have been using this for long enough to know its making a difference but I do think that my skin has been better over the last month and I think this is part of the reason.

Skin Fix Clay Mask

I had been looking for a new mask as I have almost finished the charcoal one I have been using at the moment I really like clay masks as I find them to be very purifying and great for my acne-prone skin.
I really like this mask, it always leaves my skin feeling a bit clearer and calmer which is exactly what I want from a clay mask. Sometimes it feels a little bit tingly on my skin but I think that just means that it's really working.

My only issue with the mask is that its pretty much skin colour for me, this is fine when its on my face but when it comes to taking the mask off its quite hard to make sure you've all the mask off round the edges of my face.

Thirst Trap Rich Moisturiser

This is quite a heavy moisturiser, I think it works really great as a night moisturiser but it can be used day and night.

It is so hydrating and aims to prevent water loss and replenish the skins barrier. The moisturiser contains oatmeal and oat lipid which helps to hydrate the skin and retain water without clogging your pores.

It does have a bit of an odd smell, it almost doesn't smell like anything. Although on the note of scent none of the products really smell of anything - I quite like that they haven't added anything artificial just for the sake of a nice smell.

I do really like the way my skin looks after using this, and I do think I will repurchase the moisturiser when I have finished this one!

  1. I've never tried anything from Beauty Bay either but interesting review! I love the sound of that clay mask but yeah, that's kinda weird that it's similar to your skin colour - I'd rather a mask be like, bright green tbh!

  3. What an interesting brand - I love that it's vegan! I haven't heard of them before, but thought that your results seemed quite good so I might give it a go! It's a shame you found it hard to peel off the mask, but hopefully it still benefits your skin!
